I’m the Editor-in-Chief here at Game Developer, with previous postings as the Editor-in-Chief at Fanbyte, the Managing Editor at waypoint, and a Senior Review at Polygon. I’m a lecturer at the Berklee College of Music, and a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician here in NYC. I am also an indie game developer and screenwriter.
I’m particularly proud of our educational content, including free and low-cost resources for students and hobbyist game developers, and our robust features section, particularly our developer deep dives.
I help to manage the team, the editorial calendar, and really, the entire editorial process here at the site. I run staff meetings, troubleshoot problems, and provide editorial guidance to team members. I write (and more commonly) edit stories, construct, and send out three newsletters per day, I also host and help manage the podcast.
I’ve been in games media for fifteen years, having previously worked as a reporter and critic at a variety of outlets.

I’m a writer of many talents with a background in screenwriting, narrative design, and journalism. In the course of my career I have written on two strategy games, published a steady stream of great stories at Game Developer, and spent time on film and television sets in production roles.
I’m regularly part of our one-of-a-kind GDC talk coverage. I have broken major stories such as Unity’s Runtime Fee updates and investigations into abuse allegations at notable studios. I also regularly meet with the organisers of Game Developers Conference to advise on the state of the video game industry and make recommendations on talks and other features at the show.
As a Senior Editor at Game Developer my primary purview is pursuing original stories about unique video games and the people who make them. I’m a sucker for deep insights on narrative design. I love digging into the possibilities of procedural game systems. And I must confess that if there’s a hot-button controversial topic that game developers are debating, I cannot resist diving in to learn everything I can about it.

Based in London, I produce insight into the games sector through regular reports, market sizing and forecasting. I am the Publisher of Game Developer and bring a decade of experience in the video game industry and media. When not working in the world of B2B game journalism, I enjoy spending time in the worlds of immersive sandbox games or dabbling in the occasional TTRPG.
Prior to joining Omdia, I worked at Irdeto, where I advised management and product teams on market trends and strategy. Jeff is a recent blogger on Game Developer, where he has shared development updates for his studio's in-development game, and in 2022 shared a great blog on creating AAA Studios in a more-remote world.
I am Omdia’s Research Director for games, music and audio, and consumer platforms research. I joined Omdia in 2014 and has worked across the spectrum of entertainment and media on high-profile consulting projects, with a specialisation in games and—increasingly—how they converge with other media.
My background is in media, having played editorial roles for a range of publications before joining Omdia. For many years, I have worked on a major report that examines consumer and advertiser spending data in entertainment and media segments around the world.

My coverage spans major industry events where I've interviewed influential developers worldwide, providing insights into the art of game development. In 2017, I won the GANG Award for 'Best Game Audio Article, Publication, or Broadcast' for my Gamasutra feature on 'Musical scoring with SFX in mind for Call of Duty: WWII.'
I oversee Game Developer's news output, ensuring we cover the latest trends, events, and breaking news centred around art, culture, and business of game development. By illuminating technologies and processes used to create video games and the people and companies who make them, I hope to enable developers to pursue their passion while making the industry a better place.
Lars is the President of Level Up Labs, LLC, an independent game design studio based in Bryan, TX. He is an incredible Game Developer with an expertise in game design and game economies.
